That New, New
2016 has been a little crazy. And as I'm writing this, the stark reality that it's been almost exactly a year since my last post is settling in like a nagging haze. It's hard to stop the crazy sometimes and look at what's really changing and growing. And sometimes it takes a whole bunch of unexpected life changes to force you to stop and smell those dang roses.
This year started with a whirlwind as I took part in my second consecutive year of Nashville Fashion Week. The collection I showed was so important to me because I felt like I had finally achieved some real progress in exploring my aesthetic. I pushed so hard to create dynamic garments with interesting patterns, beautiful textures, and vibrant colors. I'm so very proud of what I accomplished and can't wait to put some of those pieces up for sale in my shop very soon.
The other major occurrence so far this year has been my studio move. For the last two years, I have shared studio space with two other lovely brands -- Jamie and the Jones and Shutters and Shuttles. We have all seen great progress in our time together and felt it was time to settle into our own spaces. I was fortunate enough to find a space literally across the parking lot and I couldn't be happier. It will be such a great place for Ona Rex to get its bearings and safely grow for a while. And of course I've been working on decorating my space so that it feels as whimsical as I would love for an Ona Rex world to feel. Pink was my color of choice, and I love how the warmth of the berries and blushes make me feel inspired and calm. It'll be a work in progress for a while I'm sure, but for now it's a perfect little spot to call home.
Be sure to stay tuned for the launch of my upcoming BASE collection later this summer. I've been working very hard to update the current styles through cleaner finishing techniques, new color ways, higher quality fabrics, and more specific sizing. (I also may or may not be working on bringing in some unisex Ona Rex).
Exciting things to come!
