Fashion Week Cometh
It's been a pretty crazy start to 2015. There is a lot going on and a lot in the works for my little business. One of the biggest happenings as of recently is my acceptance into Nashville Fashion Week, which is in just under two weeks from now. I found out a few weeks ago that I would be a part of the Nashville Designer Showcase and I was suddenly thrown into overdrive. I had been preparing another small collection to debut for Fall, but when runway became part of the plan, it influenced a lot of exciting changes.
There are so many elements that are coming together in my collection that I cannot wait to share. The collection itself began as an exploration into texture. I worked with my studio mate Allison of Shutters and Shuttles to plan three different variations of waffle weave fabric. I'm not sure where my obsession with waffle weave came from, but I do know my urge to create with it was not in vain.
I dyed each waffle garment a slightly varied shade of citrus, which has yielded a very bright and very exciting collection. Dyeing my own fabric has always been really important to me as I'm a color freak and I seek out really specific shades of colors that I often cannot find in stores.
I also have some pretty exciting accessories in the works. I don't want to reveal too much, except to say that each piece of jewelry was created in-house using some unconventional materials and is incredibly special to me. Also to throw into the mix, I will be offering a small run of bags using varying colors of fabric woven at Shutters and Shuttles.
Things have been incredibly busy getting ready for the big night on April 7, but I have had some indelible help. My little one-woman show just won't cut it for fashion week. I'm so thankful for everyone who has supported me and been so willing to lend a hand.
If you would like tickets to the Nashville Designer Showcase on April 7, you may purchase them here. Also, be sure to check back here after my collection debuts, because I will be offering a few special items post-runway that you won't have to wait until Fall pre-sales to get your hands on.
